It is but natural for people to indulge once in a while, to have a second or even a third helping of a favorite dish. A pint of Double Dutch ice cream… a plateful of Oreo Cookies downed by a tall glass of ice cold milk can be the comfort food after a stressful day at work. However, if this over eating becomes a daily ritual then it becomes unhealthy. The person may be suffering from an eating disorder that would need a binge eating disorder treatment. Binge eating can be treated; binge eating disorder help can come from medical practitioners and from the family members of the binge eater.
What is really binge eating? Why is there a need for a binge eating disorder treatment? When people have an unnatural urge to eat, when they know that they have already consumed huge amounts of food but they still crave more, when they feel guilty after binging, it is very likely that these people need a binge eating disorder treatment.
In most cases, over eating is the way by which a person can deal with problems, with emotional stress. A stressful day in school or in the office, a spat with a loved one, disappointment for not passing a major exam…these could trigger an eating binge. The person is not feeding the body but the emotions and the feelings. However, emotional eating will not solve the problem. The emotional situation may be appeased for a time but when reality sets in the binger would feel more depressed as she/he would realize the consequences of the uncontrollable eating she/he has done. The person would recognize the need for a binge eating disorder treatment.
She/he may have to ask for help to overcome this eating disorder. A binge eating disorder treatment is needed before this eating disorder turns into a more serious health problem. Heart diseases, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure are only some of the diseases that could result from binge eating. Therapy and counseling is a possible reatment. Binge eating, as mentioned before, is the person’s way of coping with emotional stress. A therapist or a psychiatrist could help to overcome the real issue. Once the problem is addressed, the depression and emotional stress that triggers the eating binge could be removed. Binge eating disorder help could then come from a nutritionist who could recommend a healthy diet.
